President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday held a breakfast with Professor Ibrahim Gambari and appointed him as his new Chief of Staff.
Professor Ibrahim Gambari was appointed as a replacement for late Chief of Staff Abah Kyari who actively serve the country for 5years until his demise from coronavirus complications in Lagos.
The newly appointed Chief of Staff Professor Ibrahim Gambari was born on the 24th of November 1944 in the Ilorin Kwara State. He obtained his high school education from Kings College Lagos.
He graduated with an Economics degree from the London School of Economics in 1968 and proceeded to Colombia University in Newyork for his Masters and Doctorate degree in 1970 and 1974 respectively.
The Professor has actively performed in various governmental roles which include being Nigerian Permanent Representative at the United Nations (UN) between1990-1999.
Professor Ibrahim Gambari was a recipient of Nigeria’s third-highest national honor, Commander of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (CFR). South Africa former President, Jacob Zuma conferred on him the highest honor for non-citizens, the Order of the Companion of the Oliver R. Tambo (OCORT).
An announcement was made on the appointment of the Professor by the President through the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Mr. Boss Mustapha, during the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting in Abuja.
