Owner of French football club Lille, Gerard Lopez, has said that Nigeria International forward Victor Osimhen has attracted multiple interests from top European clubs, with the club having turned down offers earlier in January.
The Nigeria International who joined Lille from Belgian top division club Sporting Charleroi before the 2019/2020 football season began is currently being linked with a big-money move elsewhere.
This season, Victor Osimhen has 18 goals to his name in all competitions, including two goals in their last Champions League campaign that saw them finish the group stage at the bottom of Group H, behind Valencia, Chelsea, and Ajax.
Although Osimhen’s agent claimed that Italian Club Napoli is the only club showing serious interest, Lopez has made it known that there are quite a number of interested clubs from three different leagues cut across Europe.
“There are multiple offers. Earlier, we turned down offers from one English club and one Spanish club in the January transfer window,” Gerard Lopez said.
“There is a wide array this summer, and I would not want to disclose the names of the interested clubs but I want to inform you that there are multiple offers. We have had offers from clubs in three Championships that have made a bid for Osimhen,” he added.
If a deal that sees Osimhen leave Lille is sealed, Lille stands to make a considerable profit on a player they only recruited for €12million last year. It was also reported that Osimhen had been linked with a move to Premier League clubs Arsenal, Tottenham, and Liverpool.
Last year, Arsenal signed Ivorian International Nicolas Pepe from the same team, and Lopez now expects offers worth about £72million (€80m) for Osimhen, just about the same amount Nichola Pepe was reportedly sold.
