The Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai is set to speak about the insecurity issues in his State at the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) 60th Annual General Conference scheduled for August 27. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the session will take place virtually from August 26-29.

El-Rufai’s session themed ‘Am I a Nigerian- A Debate on National Identity, The Indigeneship-Citizenship Conundrum’, will be a showcase of the conference as it examines the subject of national identity. On the other hand, many lawyers who have registered for the conference said the Kaduna governor is a bad fit for the NBA’s image.

It is believed that a lot of dissatisfaction for El-Rufai, serving his second term as governor, revolves around his general attitude to the rule of law and the way he is controlling the insecurity issue in the state. Moreover, It was reported that he sometimes brash comments about the killings in Southern Kaduna and he was accused of supporting the killings, or giving a free pass to the murderers.
