There is no better way to show “no value” for human lives other than what Nigeria President Muhammadu Buhari did by concluding his national address without addressing the unacceptable brutal shooting of unarmed protesters demanding for #ENDSARS by soldiers at the Lekki Toll Gate.
Rather, the president asked Nigerians to take advantage of some of the poverty alleviation initiatives by his administration, targeted especially at youths, women, and the most vulnerable groups in the society, which are rather seen in theories.
Buhari claimed that “the spreading of deliberate falsehood and misinformation through the social media in particular, that this government is oblivious to the pains and plight of its citizens is a ploy to mislead the unwary within and outside Nigeria into unfair judgement and disruptive behaviour.”
Meanwhile, the internet is littered with video and pictures of soldiers shooting and killing innocent protesters, which has resulted in the loss of lives. The only misinformation and misleading falsehood remain the current government denial of its brutal approach in tackling the demands of the citizens of the republic.
This comes after the United States Government condemned the shooting and killing of anti-police brutality protesters in Lagos.
