Royal expert Penny Junor has claimed that Meghan Markle did not make a good first impression when she joined the British royal family as Prince Harry’s wife.

“I was hearing very bad stories from early on that Meghan was upsetting people. Harry and William: What Went Wrong,” adding that Markle’s showbiz-y approach to royalty ruffled feathers,” Penny said on the ITV documentary while adding that the former “Suits” actress, 39, was “not as charming as she seemed.”

“Our Royal Family are not celebrities. They are working members of a public institution. I was appalled by the Oprah interview. These are not statements that should be made for public consumption. This is the sort of thing that should happen in the privacy of a psychiatrist’s couch,” she added.

Last March, Meghan and her husband, Prince Harry, 36, appeared on Oprah Winfrey for an explosive interview in which they accused the royal family of racism and ignoring Meghan’s pleas for help.

The brothers’ relationship is still said to be strained. Prince William is said to have referred to his sister-in-law as a “bloody woman” because of how she allegedly treated his staff.

The renegade royal couple announced in January 2020 that they wanted to step down from their positions as senior members of the royal family and become financially independent, a move dubbed “Megxit” by the press. They have signed lucrative deals with Netflix and Spotify since relocating to Santa Barbara.
