Tottenham Hotspur forward, Son Heung-min nicknamed “Sonaldo” by team manager Jose Mourinho has returned from military service, and he says he enjoyed the tough test during his three-week military service in South Korea.

Son Heung-min recently completed his compulsory military drill while Tottenham awaited the resumption of the suspended English Premier League season due to the outbreak of the Coronavirus pandemic.

The South Korean was excused the full military service of about two years after helping his national team side win the prestigious Asian games in 2018. Despite the national achievement, he was still required to indulge in military service but for a shorter period instead.

Speaking to Spurs TV, Sonaldo said: “It was a good experience. I couldn’t say everything that I have done but I really enjoyed my service. Those guys were nice. Although the three-weeks was challenging, I tried to enjoy it.”

“On the first day, we did not know each other and it was a bit weird but sooner rather than later we got to know each other. I had nine roommates and we spent every day together. Working together made us close, and we liked to help each other. In a nutshell, I’d say my time was fantastic,” he added.

Speaking about his injury, he said: “I’m now physically fine. I’m putting in lots of hard work to return to form, and I’m nearly there.”

Furthermore, he said: “Everyone is back, everyone is in good shape. Everyone wants to play again and everyone is motivated.”

Son picked up an injury in the final weeks before the English Premier League was suspended, and cannot wait to get into action when the season restarts on June 17.
