Nigeria has welcomed One Hundred and Sixty (160) of its citizens stranded in the United States during the coronavirus pandemic as they arrived at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.

According to a report, the first batch of the stranded Nigerians arrived about 11:05 am, Sunday, 10, May. The returnees arrived via an Ethiopian Airlines Boeing 787 aircraft under the special flight arrangements by the Federal Government of Nigeria for nationals stranded abroad.

Nigerian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, has confirmed the arrival of the returnees:

“ET Flight 8509 conveying 160 Nigerian evacuees from the US has safely arrived Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja,” Onyeama said.

According to the coronavirus rule on the ground, the returnees would be quarantined for 14 days in Abuja before being allowed to head to their respective destinations.
