Victor Oshimen scored again for the Super Eagles of Nigeria as they played out a 1-1 draw with Cape Verde in a World Cup qualifying fixture.
The result means Nigeria top Group C with 13 points from six matches, while Cape Verde are in the second position with 11 points from the same number of games.
It also means that eagles are through to the World Cup qualifiers playoffs after finishing on top of the group.
Gernot Rohr’s men opened the scoring through Victor Osimhen just one minute into the game.
But Cape Verde equalized just five minutes later through Stopira.
Alex Iwobi had a chance to take Nigeria back in front but his shot from distance was well handled by the keeper.
Joe Aribo also came close for the Super Eagles, but his low drive off Odion Ighalo’s setup was once again saved by the keeper.
However, both sides failed to score in the second half of the game as the match eventually ended 1-1 after normal time.
Nigeria has participated in all FIFA World Cup final tournaments since its debut in 1994 in the United States of America, bar the 2006 finals in Germany that she missed narrowly after FIFA opted to use the head-to-head rule in the qualifying campaign, which favoured Angola.
The final round of the African qualifying series will hold in March 2022.
