The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate Eyitayo Jegede has announced that he has selected Gboluga Ikengboju, a member of the Federal House of Representatives, as his running mate for the upcoming Ondo governorship elections that will take place on October 10.
Jegede made the notice on Monday, August 17, 2020, on his Twitter account. The announcement came two weeks after Olumide Ogunje was listed as his running mate in a provincial list published by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The candidate revealed that Ikengboju was elected after ‘extensive consultations’ with leaders of the PDP.
“I am pleased, to announce that Hon. Gboluga Ikengboju will be working with me in seeking your mandate in the October 10, 2020 governorship election. We will also work with other notable leaders of our great party in different capacities. In this regard, we salute the commitment, conviction, support, and understanding of all the aspirants and other leaders of our party.” said Jegede.
The INEC has released a provision list of candidates for the Ondo governorship poll, noting that the election will be contested by a total of 17 candidates. Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is one of the candidates that will also be contesting in the poll,
Recall that the PDP candidate lost the same election to Akeredolu four years ago, however, Jegede hopes that the results will be different this year.
