The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Zamfara has welcomed more than 12,000 defectors from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Monday, August 24, 2020, in Tsafe Local Government Area (LGA).
The defectors were welcomed by the state APC Chairman, Alhaji Lawal Liman who stated that the progress was good for the party in its mission to retake the state in forthcoming elections. Liman commended the PDP defectors to persuade more followers to join the party.
“We are happy with this development to welcome over 12,000 PDP and G8 members to APC today. This is in line with ongoing efforts by the APC national leadership under Gov. Mai Mala Buni to reunite the party members. Those who are with the APC before now and those who joined today are under one umbrella,” he said.
The chairman requested the members of the party in the state to unite and evade any form of discrimination among them. On their part, Alhaji Sani Maigidan-Gabas from Kwaren Ganuwa Ward said they involved PDP fans, wards executives, and women leaders.
“We are not satisfied with the new government. Over a year of PDP led government in office, we have not seen development if compared with the immediate past administration under APC,” he said.
