The Nigerian Senate passed a supplementary budget of N895.842 billion into law on Wednesday, 7, July, 2021.

The passage came after a satisfactory report from Senate Committee Chairman on Appropriations Senator Jibrin Barau, who explained that the supplementary budget would supplement the efforts of various government agencies to discharge their responsibilities.

According to Barau, security agencies will be able to obtain arms and equipment as they work to combat insecurity across the entire country.

He said: “That the Senate do consider the report of the Committee on Appropriation on the supplementary Appropriation bill, 2021.”

Following the report, Nigerian Senate President Dr Ahmad Ibrahim Lawan considered the Bill clause by clause during the Committee of the Whole and passed it.

In his remarks, Lawan urged government agencies to use the funds for the intended purpose, and he expressed optimism that the story of insecurity would change now that enough money has been appropriated for it.
